In a recent campaign rally, Obama had the audacity (to use one of his favorite terms) to utter the following:
We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK.
Consider the authoritarian mindset this utterance reveals about a man who might assume the presidency of a nation conceived in liberty, and who receives fawning support from a great deal of citizens of said nation. Obama believes that your car, your air conditioning, and even your food are not really yours at all, but rather "ours" -- meaning that the public sector, through him, may control them. This is a betrayal of the ideals that founded this country, where the government undertook to protect your inalienable right to pursue happiness in your own way. Obama has effectively declared war on that right and believes that you may not spend your money (i.e., the fruits of your labor) as you see fit, but rather as he sees fit. For a man who never tires of criticizing America for its former indulgence of slavery, it sure is odd for him to encourage slavery's return.
What proves even more sinister than this putrid collectivism is its global scope, as Obama clearly sees fit to subjugate American sovereignty to the wishes of foreign nations. As I argue in my upcoming book, Unlawful Government: The Gathering Threat Of Global Hegemony, the political class is scared stiff of our increasing ability to slip-slide away from its national control, and has therefore begun linking arms worldwide in an effort to subsume the nation-state. By gleefully deploying the lingo of one-worldism, Obama has revealed that he has completely on-board with that hegemonic program.
If you wish to spend your money for SUVs rather than Priuses; for air conditioning instead of fans; or for caviar instead of ramen noodles, then it's none of Obama's or any foreigner's damn business. On the other hand, if you do not trust yourself to run your life, and if you believe that gladhanding politicians are better stewards of your interests than you are, then have at it. Just don't expect me or the growing numbers of people like me to go along with it. This is my country, but it is not my lawful government nor any government recognizable to the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution.
